The west coast of South Africa – where Koingnaas is situated – is notoriously dangerous for ships – and its been dangerous for the last 500 years.
1000’s of shipwrecks lay around the coastline of South Africa – especially on the west coast.
In this series of post we will tell share some of these old shipwreck stories around the tiny town of Koingnaas.
Our first story is about the 260 ton steam fish trawler – ARISTEA – that sank in Jul 1945 about 25km from Koingnaas – close to Hondelikbaai.
